Privacy Policy for Miles
Effective Date: September 25, 2026
Miles (“Miles,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is operated by SnappingTurtlesDev. This Privacy Policy explains how Miles collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Miles mobile application and related services.
By using Miles, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect#
Account Information
When you create an account, we may collect:
- Your email address
- Your first and last name, when provided
- A unique account identifier
- Authentication information required to access your account
Miles uses email-and-password account access. We do not intentionally store your password in the Miles or have access to your password in readable form.
Tracking and Logging Information
Miles is a productivity and tracking application for gig workers. We collect and store information you voluntarily enter into the app, which may include:
- Trip dates and times
- Gig or delivery platform
- Mileage or kilometer information
- Earnings or trip-pay information
- Dollars-per-mile calculations
- Trip history
- Mileage-unit preferences
- Earnings and mileage settings
- Other tracking or logging information you choose to provide
This information is associated with your Miles account so that it can be stored, displayed, calculated, edited, exported, and synchronized across supported devices.
Diagnostic Information (optional)
Auto Tracking keeps a technical log on your device describing when drive detection started and stopped, which system signals it received, and errors it encountered. This log contains no location coordinates or route data. It stays on your device unless you turn on Share tracking diagnostics in Settings or tap Send diagnostics now, in which case a copy is stored under your account so we can investigate tracking problems. Diagnostic copies are deleted automatically after 30 days, and you can turn sharing off at any time.
Location Information
What we collect. When you turn on Auto Tracking, Miles collects your device’s precise location — latitude, longitude, accuracy, timestamp, and speed — while you are driving. Collection runs in the background, including while the app is closed or not in use, because that is the only way to measure a drive you are not watching the phone during.
Miles also uses Android’s physical-activity recognition to detect when a drive starts and ends. That signal tells us whether the device is in a vehicle; it is not stored.
Why we collect it. For one purpose: to record the route and distance of your drives so the app can build your mileage log and estimate the vehicle-expense deduction those miles are worth. Location is not used for advertising, not used for analytics, and not used to build a profile of you.
When we collect it. Only while Auto Tracking is switched on, and only from the moment a drive is detected until it ends. Location collection stops when the drive ends, when you switch Auto Tracking off, and when you sign out.
Where it goes. Points are buffered on your device while a drive is in progress. When the drive ends, the route is simplified and written to your own private area of our Firebase Firestore database, under your account. Start and end coordinates are converted to street addresses on your device, by Android itself.
Who can see it. You. Access is restricted to your signed-in account by security rules. We do not sell location data, we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not disclose it to third parties except where the law requires it.
How long we keep it. Until you delete it. You can delete any individual drive in the app, and deleting your account deletes every drive with it.
Processors. Google Firebase (authentication, database, hosting) and RevenueCat (subscriptions) process data on our behalf. RevenueCat receives only a subscription identifier tied to your account — never your location.
Subscription and Purchase Information
Miles uses RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and premium access. RevenueCat may process information such as:
- Subscription status
- Purchase history
- Product identifiers
- Transaction or receipt information
- Subscription renewal and expiration dates
- A RevenueCat user identifier or Miles account identifier
- The app store through which a purchase was made
Payments are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Miles does not directly collect or store your complete credit-card or bank-account information.
Referral Codes
If you enter a creator's referral code, Miles records that code on your account so that the creator can be credited. The record contains the code, when it was applied, and an anonymous reference number; it is used only to calculate the creator's commission.
Affiliate Program
If you apply to become a Miles affiliate, we receive the details you send us, such as your name, email address, the platform you post on, and your handle or channel. If you join the program, we also keep the information needed to pay your commissions. This information is used only to run the affiliate program and to contact you about it.
Technical Information
RevenueCat, Apple, Google, or your device may automatically provide limited technical information necessary to operate the app, such as:
- Device or operating-system information
- App version
- Installation identifiers
- Authentication events
- Purchase-validation information
- Error, security, and service-performance information
Miles does not currently use your information for third-party behavioral advertising.
2. How We Use Information#
We may use collected information to:
- Create, authenticate, and manage your account
- Store and display your trip logs
- Calculate mileage, earnings, and dollars-per-mile information
- Record the route and distance of your drives when Auto Tracking is on
- Synchronize your information across supported devices
- Provide subscription features and verify premium access
- Restore previous purchases
- Respond to support requests
- Maintain the security and reliability of Miles
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
- Diagnose technical problems
- Comply with legal obligations
- Improve the app’s features and user experience
We only use your information for purposes reasonably related to providing and maintaining Miles.
3. How Information Is Shared#
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
We may share or allow information to be processed by service providers that help us operate Miles, including:
Google Firebase
Miles uses Google Firebase for authentication, cloud database storage, and website hosting. Your account information, trip logs, and — when Auto Tracking is on — recorded drive routes are stored in Firebase Firestore under your account, with access restricted to you by security rules.
RevenueCat
Miles uses RevenueCat to manage subscriptions, purchase validation, subscription status, and premium-feature access.
RevenueCat may receive purchase information and a user or app identifier to provide these services.
Apple and Google
Purchases made through Miles are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Apple or Google may process transaction, payment, account, and device information according to their own privacy policies.
Affiliates
Creators who take part in the Miles affiliate program can see, for the accounts that used their referral code, an anonymous reference number, the date the code was applied, whether the subscription is currently paid, and the commission earned. They never receive your name, email address, location, trip data, or any other information that identifies you.
Melio
Affiliate commissions are paid through Melio. To send a payout, Miles shares the affiliate's name, email address, the amount owed, and the payment details needed to deliver it with Melio, which processes them under its own privacy policy. Melio receives nothing about drivers.
Legal and Safety Disclosures
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, court orders, or legal processes
- Respond to lawful government requests
- Protect the rights, safety, and property of Miles, our users, or others
- Investigate fraud, abuse, security threats, or violations of our terms
- Complete a merger, acquisition, financing, sale, or transfer of the app or its assets
4. Data Storage and Security#
Miles uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information.
Cloud information is stored using service providers. Access to account information should be restricted using authentication and database security controls.
However, no electronic storage or transmission system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure will never occur.
You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for protecting access to your device and account.
5. Data Retention#
We retain account and tracking information for as long as:
- Your Miles account remains active
- The information is needed to provide the app’s services
- It is reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance
When your account is deleted, we will delete or begin deleting the personal information associated with your account from our active systems, except where information must be retained for legal, security, fraud-prevention, accounting, or transaction-record purposes.
Some information may remain temporarily in encrypted backups or service-provider systems before being permanently removed under their normal retention schedules.
Subscription and transaction records may also be retained by RevenueCat, Apple, or Google according to their legal and operational requirements.
6. Account and Data Deletion#
You may request deletion of your Miles account and associated data through the account-deletion option available in the app’s Settings page.
You may also submit a deletion request by contacting:
For security, we may need to verify that you own the account before completing a deletion or data-access request.
Deleting the Miles app from your device does not automatically delete your account or cloud-stored information.
Deleting your Miles account does not automatically cancel an active App Store or Google Play subscription. Subscriptions must be canceled through the subscription settings of the store where the purchase was made.
7. Your Privacy Rights#
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Request access to personal information we maintain about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information
- Obtain a copy of certain information
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent when processing is based on consent
- Submit a complaint to an applicable privacy authority
To exercise a privacy right, contact us at snapping.turtlesdev@gmail.com.
We may request reasonable verification before responding. Some rights may be limited by applicable law, security requirements, or our need to maintain transaction and legal records.
8. California Privacy Information#
California residents may have rights regarding access, correction, deletion, and information about how their personal information is collected, used, or disclosed.
Miles does not currently sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under applicable California privacy law.
Requests may be submitted to snapping.turtlesdev@gmail.com.
9. Children’s Privacy#
Miles is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information through Miles, contact us at snapping.turtlesdev@gmail.com. We will review the request and take appropriate steps to delete the information when required.
10. International Data Transfers#
Miles and its service providers may process or store information in the United States or other countries. These countries may have privacy laws that differ from those in your location.
Where required, appropriate safeguards will be used for international transfers of personal information.
11. Third-Party Services#
Miles may contain links or connections to services operated by third parties. This Privacy Policy does not govern the privacy practices of Apple, Google, RevenueCat, gig platforms, or other third-party services.
You should review the privacy policies of those services to understand their data practices.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy#
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to Miles, our service providers, legal requirements, or data-handling practices.
When material changes are made, we may provide notice through the app, our website, or another reasonable method. The updated policy will display a revised effective date.
